Cody along with FKR Motorpsorts made the trip to Kennedale Speedway Park this past Friday night. This was the first time Cody got to experience a quarter mile track that didn’t have a high banking to it. He tried a few different lines throughout hot laps and with a few changes he was read for his first heat race. With the field split Cody started 6th out of 6 for the first heat. He showed patients and within a few laps settled into the 3rd position where he just rode out the rest of the heat race trying a few different lines in the process. His second heat race saw him starting outside of row number 1. Cody got a great start and pulled into the lead entering into Turn 1 which is where he remained for most of the race before making a driving error allowing a car on the bottom side of him going into turn 3 with about 3 laps left. Then for some reason after taking the white flag coming out of turn 2 Cody’s car stalled which allowed another car to get on the outside of him. They entered into turn 3 together when the other car came down and caught Cody in the right front spinning him out. Cody was able to keep his car going and was awarded the 2nd place finish. Finally it was time for the Feature Race of the night. Cody was starting 4th out of 12 cars on the night and when the green flag waved he was full throttle. He saw an opening along the bottom of the track and attempted a pass. Unfortunately a racing incident occurred and Cody’s car took most of the damage resulting in his first ever DNF in a micro sprint. So far repairs are being made in the shop and the crew and team hope to be back in action Saturday April 20th at Gator Motorplex for the Nolan Wren Memorial race.
