Freeman Records Podium Finish during A-Class Nonwing Debut

Inside Line Promotions – WILLIS, Texas (Oct. 19, 2015) – Cody Freeman surprised himself last Saturday during his A-Class nonwing micro sprint debut.

Freeman recorded a podium finish while driving for Gengo Racing at Gator Motorplex with the Lonestar 600 Series.

“I was expecting a top seven or so, but not a top three,” he said. “It gives me a lot of confidence moving forward.”

Freeman opened the event by charging from sixth to third place in a heat race.

“This car had power steering and I wasn’t used to that,” he said. “I tried it two laps in the heat and I turned it off. It had a switch inside. It was too twitchy so I wanted to get back to what I’m used to.”

The move paid off for Freeman, who overcame an early spin during the heat to earn enough points to make the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 3 during the random draw to line up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“On the first lap I got passed by two cars to fall to fifth,” he said. “About three laps later a car that passed me wrecked and another car was involved so that moved me back up to third. I battled with the second-place driver for about seven laps before he finally pulled away from me.”

Freeman held on for a third-place result, which marked his 13th top five of the season.

He is scheduled to drive for Gengo Racing at Gator Motorplex on Oct. 31 during the 12th annual Halloween Havoc.
