Cody travelled to Gulf Coast Speedway in Alvin, TX this past Saturday night to run with the EMSA Series. Not knowing how the car would run after the rain out the week prior all the team knew is that when it would run it had problems. Throughout the night in the heat races Cody showed that there was nothing wrong with the motor and whatever issues there were the week prior had been resolved. He was as fast as he had been all year going into the feature, however with excellent track conditions all of the drivers in his class were extremely fast. It was going to be one of those nights where all the cars were so evenly matched the car with the best set up stood the strongest chance of winning. Starting in the 4th position he had to check up to stay out of trouble and finally settled in the 6th position by the time he was able to get into the racing line he wanted to run. A little over midway through the race he found his way up to 5th and was pushing to get to 4th’s back bumper when he made a drivers error and spun out in the middle of turns 3 and 4. Restarting back in 9th position he was able to race his way back to 6th when in the middle of 3 and 4 he found himself extremely out of position again and made contact with another car but was able to keep his forward momentum however unfortunately the other car spun out bring out the caution for a green, white, checkered finish. Restarting in 7th the car in front of him this time reached the same point in the track spinning and Cody narrowly avoided contact bring out another caution and Green, White, Checkered restart. Upon the restart Cody was able to get a good run down the backstretch and again drive the car into 3 and 4, where he had trouble twice already in the race, driving under the 5th place car but was able to make it stick and cleanly make the pass. Finally Cody crossed the checkers in the 5th position for the night. Overall all of the drivers did extremely well and there were some good racing all through the field in what ended up being a great night after some weather worries.
