Inside Line Promotions – LONGVIEW, Texas (Dec. 30, 2013) – Cody Freeman is ready to kick off his second season in a micro sprint during a premier event this week.
Freeman will open the 2014 season by competing in the restricted “A” class at the 29th annual Tulsa Shootout at the Tulsa Expo Raceway in Tulsa, Okla., Wednesday through Saturday. It marks his first-ever trip to the top-notch micro event.
“It’s the biggest event we’ve ever participated in by far,” Freeman said. “It’s nerve-racking, but since we finished our season so strong we’re going in confident.”
Freeman powered to 11 top-five finishes and 27 top 10s in 30 races last season – his first in a micro sprint. Freeman is hopeful that momentum will continue against the top competition in the sport this weekend.
“Our primary goal is to make it Saturday night in the A Feature in our first-ever showing,” he said. “That would be a huge accomplishment. It’s going to take hitting my marks and the crew hitting the setup just right. And then it’s going to take a little bit of luck.”
The teams are set for practice on Wednesday with heat races starting the action on Thursday.
