Freeman Makes Schedule Change to Test Skills Against Top Competition

Inside Line Promotions – ALVIN, Texas (April 28, 2014) – Cody Freeman and his team have made a big decision regarding the remainder of this season.

“We decided that due to wanting to grow the team and improve our skills, it’s best that we get away from the points racing and race where there’s more competition,” he said.

The team has added 13 micro sprint races in the state of Oklahoma.

“We want to go race some bigger venues to learn how to work the traffic,” he said. “We know by going to Oklahoma we’re going to get a higher car count. We’re going to get some good competition.”

Freeman is coming off his third podium finish in the last four races and his fourth straight top-six result last Saturday at Gulf Coast Speedway.

After placing second in his first heat race and third in his second heat race, the team decided not to make any adjustments heading into the main event.

“We turned it into let’s not change anything,” he said. “Let’s practice and experience the changes in the track and how it’s going to change the car. I learned how to work the bottom of the track. I gained a lot in throttle control. We were practicing driving a bad car.”

Freeman, who started the night tight in turns one and two and loose in turns three and four, was able to hold consistent lap times throughout the main event as he worked the bottom groove. In addition to scoring the third-place finish, he earned valuable experience.

“We’re not going to worry about the results right now,” he said. “It’s more about learning inside the car and adapting.”

Freeman is scheduled to race this Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas.
