Inside Line Promotions – WILLIS, Texas (May 5, 2014) – Cody Freeman registered his fourth podium finish in his last five races on Saturday at Gator Motorplex.
After starting on the pole of his winged restricted micro sprint heat race, Freeman finished in the runner-up position.
“The track was a little heavier than what it had been in the past, but the car handled beautifully,” he said. “I was extremely happy with the car.”
Freeman then lined up on the outside of the front row for the 20-lap main event. The polesitter took the early advantage, but Freeman stayed within striking distance. The top two distanced themselves from the field and despite an overheating issue in the closing laps, Freeman ended with the runner-up finish. It was his best result of the season at Gator Motorplex.
“Overall, there has been a drastic improvement in my driving since the last time we visited Gator,” he said. “I got a lot of confidence back. Saturday night was a real confidence booster.”
In his last five races, Freeman hasn’t finished outside the top six in a main event.
He will take this weekend off to spend time with his family and celebrate the birthday of his younger brother, Rustin.
